Accelerating Transportation Infrastructure: Roads, Rails and Risk-Sharing

Transportation agencies are turning to alternative delivery to speed up highways, bridges, and transit projects across California. In this session, panelists will discuss how tools like toll revenue P3 concessions and design-build contracts are helping deliver major transportation upgrades faster and more cost-effectively. Learn how California can draw on other states’ successes with toll road P3 deals and managed lanes, and how design-build has accelerated projects like bridge replacements and rail line extensions (LA Metro, for instance, now routinely uses design-build for its transit expansions). Presenters will share insights from projects, explaining how risk was allocated between public and private partners and how challenges (from permitting to community opposition) were overcome. If you’re involved in roads, highways, public transit or airports, this session will highlight cutting-edge delivery models to keep California’s transportation networks moving.
